Following the Lord’s Will in Ministry
The great disparity between our wills and God’s will has caused turmoil for man since original sin. It sounds so easy to follow the Lord, but when the first crossroad appears before us we often turn away in despair.
On the road to Heaven what are the signs turning us away?
Just give in a little bit…It’s good for you to try.
God’s way isn’t really the best way.
Laziness and fear.
Distractions, idols, and gimmicks
When planning a campaign, parish program, youth group evening, etc begin first with the Lord. Don’t allow the onslaught of deception from the world drive you off course. Worldly values are like a stereo that must be turned off.
Look to the Lord’s Signs
The Sacraments, Adoration, Scripture, and the Rosary
The Lives of the Saints
Examples of holy men and women in your diocese
The Writings of the Pope
The Fruits of the Holy Spirit
It is through the Lord that we are feed, nourished, and prepared for ministry. If what we do is not in the Lord’s name, who are we accomplishing it for?
The most success in parish ministry will come from prayer. Faith combined with our reason will produce the results that are needed.
Stop worrying, getting distracted, ministering half-heartily, and giving up. Turn off and Turn God ON!
