Pro-Life Concerts
Feb 27th
Recently I received a mailing from Priest for Life. They have done good, solid, pro-life work across the country (maybe even the world).
The mailing mentioned that their Priest are “ready and waiting to come to your area to help advance the pro-life cause.”
What are you waiting for? They would make a great addition to your next meeting, event, fundraiser, or prayer event. Catholic school and parish events would be ideal.
With an added bonus they list Fr. Denis Wilde, OSA a concert pianist as one of their main priest. Father relates music to the pro-life message.
I have heard Father play and speak. He is exceptional at both. Don’t miss out.

Pro-Life, America, and the Catholic Church
Feb 5th
The pro-life movement has seen a sharp attack against polices that were in place to protect life, not destroy it. These attack call for an increase on our efforts to defend the dignity of the human person.
January 2009 – The President allowed money to go over seas to promote and fund abortion. He also brought to his administration the lawyer who advocated starving and dehydrating Terri Schindler Schiavo.
February 2009 – Health Care professionals lost their protection of not participating in abortion due to good consciences.
March 2009 – The ban on using tax payer money to do research on embryonic stem cell research was lifted and $50 million went to United Nations Fund
April 2009 – Pro-Life advocates were added to watch list and labeled “right-wing extremist.”
May 2009 – Abstinence only education funding was discontinued.
Since May the health care reform bill contained language advocating universal access to abortion. Funding for embryonic stem cell research was continued in December and recently renominated a radically pro-abortion member to a top White House position.
5 Ways to Promote Life
- Pray often for respect for life and anyone considering an abortion
- Educate yourself on the issues concerning the right to life movement
- Be a witness to the value of human life and share your views with those around you.
- Participate and help fund local crisis pregnancy centers
- Ask your parish Priest to preach on the value of human life and why abortion is not moral.

Pro-life Videos for Youth and Young Adults
Dec 16th
There are a myriad of resources to educate youth and young adults on the pro-life topics; however, some are better than others. While at Franciscan University, I saw a number of young people take part in grass root movements using media to spread the Gospel of Life…ie. The Culture of Life that John Paul II proclaimed.
Our young people in the Catholic Church are accomstumed to audio/video education. Here are some professional examples from CatholicVote.org on proclaiming the Culture of Life.
I have put their work up before and will continue because I am so impressed with what they produce.
Open a youth night with these videos or begin a young adult meetings to help facilitate discussion.
Abortion is sadly the most common surgical procedure in America today. For CatholicVote.org and tens of millions of Americans, the right to life is the greatest civil rights issue of our day. Pope John Paul the Great put it succinctly when he said: “the common outcry, which is justly made on behalf of human rights — for example, the right to health, to home, to work, to family, to culture — is false and illusory if the right to life, the most basic and fundamental right and the condition of all other personal rights, is not defended with maximum determination.”

X-Box Games
Setup a projector with sound equipment. Ask one of the teens to bring the Play Station or x-box.
Make sure to advertise that this is going to be at the event or else it is a waste to use it it.
Local Pro-Life Speakers
There are plenty of speakers and videos you can use to talk about the pro-life message. Stick to how it hurts women and kills a baby since that is what effects the youth the most. Expand into cloning and stem cells later.
Pro-Life March
Just go with your parish, local pro-life club, or high school. This is a great day! Teens always have fun. Pack snacks, videos, and warm clothes.
Chastity
Generation Life does a fantastic chastity presentation. Plus you get extra volunteers that night during youth group. We broke the teens up by gender. They really enjoyed it.
