The Last Supper

Recently I was given the book To Whom Shall We Go? Lessons from the Apostle Peter written by Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan.  Like many Catholics my bookshelves are filled with pious books that continue to stack up and my reading list grows.  However, I was given the book by another person a week later, so I thought maybe I should make this a priority.

Upon opening the book Archbishop Dolan sets the stage for a marvelous spiritual adventure.  I couldn’t put the book down.  The Archbishop uses funny stories, authentic teaching, short chapters (in big print), and practical spiritual advice.  His simple approach to helping the reader see Christ face to face and realize that in an ever changing world if we only keep our eyes on the Lord, the Lord will keep us steady.

I would recommend this book to anyone with little time who want to make drastic improvements in their prayer life.  If you are looking for a critical exegesis on St. Peter look elsewhere.

“All for Thee, Most Sacred heart of Jesus.  Sacred heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in Thee.  Most sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on me, a sinner.”

Youth Group – Young Adult – Boy Scouts

Youth Group - As a youth minister take each chapter of the book and use it as a 9 week lesson plan.  Each chapter contains enough to offer a teaching.  Youth long for intimate experiences with Jesus Christ and this book will give you a simple guideline to help them.

Young Adult Group
- This book could work as a theme for the year.  It is relatively low cost and the chapters could give great starting points to plan talks.  The book lends itself to follow up discussion that could be facilitated through an email newsletter.

Catholic Boy Scout Troop – Chapter 7 “Put Out into the Deep” would create good discussion for the religious award.
